We took the Supreme Princess to this movie this afternoon. She's 3 1/2 and it kept her entertained until the last 10 minutes which was pretty decent considering none of it is animated.
Being a child of the real chipmunk era, I was having a good time watching the re-creation of a story I already knew (with a twist). What was weird was the modernization of the chipmunk songs! All of the songs had these total dance-mix beats to them which made my walk down memory lane more difficult.
All in all, it was a cute movie. The chipmunks themselves, were a little creepy (especially their eyes!) but I enjoyed their antics and little voices. SP loved hearing them sing and she was groovin' along with their songs. It was really funny.
3 backward glances:
sheesh... I remember being in the car with my parents in the 60s and hearing the chipmunks come on the car radio. My brother and I loved it. For me, the fun of the movie would be to hear them again. I'm, guessing that the remix would not work for me, either.
But since my kids are in their 20s, I don't think I will be taking one of them to see it. Maybe I can find one of my old 45s :p
(btw... have you heard the Christmas song "Chipmunks Roasting on an Open Fire?" It is pretty good. If you want, I will send it to you... but don't play it for SP for a few more years. :) )
i'd love to hear that song! it sounds hilarious! it would be even funnier to hear SP singing it around the house!
I want to see this movie! I saw a preview today, and I absolutely love Jason Lee! :)
