You may remember I went to a lot of effort to create a cozy spare bedroom for my guests where they could feel welcome and comfortable.
My take on this room is that it is ALWAYS clean and ready for someone to come stay there. The sheets are ALWAYS clean and I change them each and every single time someone stays. I don't ever want anyone wondering if they are sleeping on someone else's sheets. This is something that's important to me when I stay at someone else's house but maybe I'm just weird.
Is this normal? Do you change your guest room sheets like that or am I cuckoo? I'm just getting the feeling that maybe other people don't care as much as I do?? I don't know.
Enlighten me!

What's the Proper Etiquette?

12 backward glances:
The thought of sleeping in someone's dirty sheets gives me the willies. I can only hope that EVERYONE is this courteous.
I take a pillow case when I travel just because I'm suspicious of hotels and I can't snuggle up to someone else's drool catcher. or worse. But I won't go there...
i take it further and bring my own pillow no matter what i go. pillows are REALLY a personal thing to me. but i am sort of a little germaphob too.
I totally agree with Kelly!! I hope that people are as courteous as you! I don't have a guest room at the moment (it's currently the junk room) - but when we have someone coming over we make sure that the room they are staying in is immaculate - dusted, clean sheets, empty closet space, etc..
When we go places, I always take the sheets off of the bed when we leave. If we're staying with friends I offer to put the new sheets on as well!
I change my OWN stinkin sheets AT LEAST once a week so of course I change my guest room sheets after each visitor- doesn't everyone (please answer that the way I hope it should be answered!) And, when I go stay with my grandma, mother or in laws I get up in the morning and wash and change their guest room sheets for them:)
Absolutely!!! We don't have a guest room though so when we do have guests, they get clean sheets from the cupboard on either the blow up mattress or the kids beds (sometimes we move them out of their bedroom). I can't wait until our caravan arrives as that will double as our guest room.
no, not everyone does this. that's why i was curious! and i'm not just playing stupid either because i was really starting to think maybe i was just being over-the-top a little. but i think you're right - it's common courtesy to have your guests sleep in CLEAN sheets.
CLEAN sheets are a must but it is way easy for us because they get sheets out of the closet to cover the blow up mattress. No spare rooms in this house...oh, but I dream of the day.
That is just the proper thing to do. That is how I was raised. If my sheets are white I change them once a week if there colorful I change them everyother week. That is how my grandma taught me. So I think you are normal.
I think you are spot on.
I remember staying at my uncle's house and they put me in my cousin's room and she had peed the sheets. Yeah, i was grossed out. However, I think I contributed to the donation as well.
Definitely change the sheets for each guest, before they come and when they leave.
Sounds like your guests are lucky to be staying at your house! I don't have a spare room, actually my baby sleeps in the living room but we are moving into a 3 bedroom house next month!
We always change the sheets between guests.
Also, normally, we let our dog wash the dishes for us, but when guests come, we wash the dishes, too. ;)
Seriously, the idea of sleeping in someone else's skin-flakes gives me the creeps, too. I don't think you are weird on this at all... in fact, I'd say that people who don't agree with you need to be given a clue.
