Because of being a 2nd child, Tink seriously has as many toys as any 2nd child usually has - too many. There is no short supply of toys for any age of development around here since The Marshmallow is also extremely sentimental (more sentimental than even the kids) and has a difficult time parting with anything his precious children have ever played with. No, it's not that bad but close.
So for Tink's first birthday, it's been difficult for me because I don't really need to clutter the house with more toys we don't need and yet in fairness, I need to give her some presents. Not out of necessity but more because she needs to know as she grows that there are some toys that exclusively belong to her. I also need to demonstrate to the first child that not everything in this house is hers and that we do give things to Tink from time to time.
So, I turned to Etsy to see if there were any toys I could really get behind. Turns out, they did. Etsy never lets me down. Such very cute, creative and artistic things - they blow my mind, really! Compared to some of these artists, I have not even a smidgen of a creative bone in my body.

Etsy: For A Baby's First Birthday
This is what I ended up buying for the baby. The ball is personalized with her name. I thought this was way cute!

So cute! It reminds me of that barenaked ladies song "If I had a million dollars" when he asks, "Haven't you always wanted a monKEY?" Why yes I have! Tink'll love hers :)
Hey you can send some of those leftover toys our way. Poor Charley will be pushing trucks around for her hand me down toys. I'm trying to make her a tomboy but I know it will just backfire on me.
Love the ball, totally cute!
What neat toys you found on etsy! As much as I shop there I never think to look for toys! I'll get right on that :)
I'm cracking up at all that we have in commom, Amy. My husband is sooo sentimental - will hardly part with anything. He seriously wanted to keep our boys naval cords when they came off! ha!
Also, on your profile I saw that "Always" was one of your favorite movies! Mine too! I don't think many people even remember that one. Several years back my husband had a video store order me a copy (before internet was big) becuase he couldn't find it anywhere. If I remember correctly it was a Valentine's gift :)
That is the cutest dang ball I've ever seen. I know what you mean about the toys for the second child. You almost feel like WHY do we need more? Can't they share? It surprises me how quickly we ended up with TOO MUCH stuff in the kid department.
Tiff: yes! I have always wanted a monkey!
Rach: I WOULD BE GLAD TO! I'll save some up for your June trip. Seriously!
Lesley: I never thought to look for toys there until YOU said you found all that cute birthday stuff there. Hmm, go figure :) and yeah, Always is by far one of my very fav movies. It's just the perfect amount of sap. I wish i had it a copy of it!
CMC: Totally know what you mean. I began having TOO MUCH before the second was even born. Now it's just way over the top!
