I do. And the nursery probably thinks I'm a lunatic. I really love annuals. And I bought a ton of them the other day. It's ridiculous mainly because I'm not really supposed to be planting them yet. So I put them in a little wagon that I pull back and forth from the front lawn to my garage every night and morning. If they can't be in my flower beds, they can at least be gracing my porch during the day, right?
I cleaned up the flower bed by the porch the other day which is probably what got me started. With being so busy this winter, it was so nice to simply close my mind to work tasks and take a deep breath of spring air and get my hands dirty. There is hardly a better feeling than brushing away the old leaves and dead debris from around the base of newly sprouting perennials to see what is growing up underneath the dead. I planted a few new perennials last year, which I then promptly forgot about and so clearing away this year is kind of like Christmas, finding things that I forgot about. It's kind of nice at times to have dementia :)
This year, I have a little buddy out there in the yard with me named Tinker. Every other year prior, she's been a PIA to me instead of just hanging. She'd be eating dirt, running in the road and generally freaking me out that she'd fall down the steps or get tangled up in a rose bush. This year she wants to help me plant, help me water, carry garbage, pull the wagon, and dig up lots and lots of dirt. Oh - I forgot, she mainly loves to pick dandelions. Loverly. I remember these days from when Bugs was two. I love having a gardening buddy.
I'm so happy Spring is finally here. My mood is flowering.
